Movin' Along...

SARA BOYLES
FTI

It has been a week now since I announced my decision to leave Holy Trinity next year. When I think about it I alternate from sadness to anticipation to fear. Will I be up to a new focus and life? How do I leave well? How do I hold the thoughts and feelings of all of you in a respectful and wholesome way? Who will come here next? How do I continue my loving of all of you and what we have been together? Change is not for sissies!

Now some of these questions are for another day. Each day needs to be lived through and dealt with on its own. Living in the present requires an attending to this day without losing sight that it is linked both to the days ahead and the days gone by. I know I am thinking about other leavings and trying to glean from them ways I want to move along. In the Joan Birkhoff tradition, I am going to host a series of pot luck suppers. The theme will be around storytelling. The first one will be October 13 in the café. The time is set for 6:30 since the car park rates at the Hydro 1 building (Bell Building) change at 6 o’clock.

I want you to mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov 4 for a parish planning and play day. Not only is there my leaving but we need conversations which will deepen our relationship with San Esteban’s and lead us towards a good urban partnership (I hope). Along with this comes the need to develop a parish profile, develop a search committee and prepare for new things. Without going completely off the deep end I would like to suggest that a goodly number of us ought to go to an urban ministry conference to be held in New York City next June at St. Bartholomew’s.

I would be amiss to finish without mentioning the “Drumbo Bus Tour” which will take place next spring. Hold on to your hats!
Sara
