Parish Demographics

SARA BOYLES
Did you know that in our parish area, 30% of the people who live here are between 20 and 29 years of age? An age distribution table shows about 1% of them come to Holy Trinity. In other age categories our statistics match the area profile even though most of us don't come from the area.

Did you know in a pastoral size church (50 - 150 members), like ours, the average size of annual contribution is $901 per identifiable giver. Here at Holy Trinity our average is $1,222. Congratulations!!!! The average donation for use of space in a pastoral size church is $25,220. Here at Holy Trinity it is $98,000. That amount doesn't cover our maintenance budget so without the fabric fund and all the volunteer time that goes into property and finance we would be in big trouble stewarding these three old buildings. Thanks again to all who help.

These statistics and many others come from a 2004 study done by the diocese to help congregations get a snap shot of themselves. They are to help us as we discern our mission and ministry.

Needless to say, we have a unique situation with historical buildings and a business community surrounding us. The lack of parking and the lack of signs on the streets around us keeps us hidden from view. We have a far flung congregation and relatively few members who live in the area. It is also unique to have a fabric fund (built from the investment income re the sale of air rights to Cadillac Fairview many years ago).

Last night with Gwen, Ron and Alice we began asking how these statistics affect who we are. I will post the charts on the warden's bulletin board (beside the People Presence table). Do have a look and imagine where you think we are being called to be over the next 10 years? There is much food for thoughts and ministry under our noses.
